Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making their way to the next stop on their royal tour – Tonga – but not before paying tribute to a fallen soldier.
After an official welcome ceremony in Nadi, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex unveiled a new statue commemorating Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba, a British-Fijian soldier who lost his life in the 1972 Battle of Mirbat. The event was also attended by Fijian President Jioji Konrote and senior representatives from the government and the Armed Forces.
The Duchess of Susses, looked glowing, wearing a $2,400 Jason Wu dress. The 37-year-old royal paired her dress with Manolo Blahniks and gold earrings for her and Prince Harry’s final day in Fiji.
After the ceremony, the couple boarded their Qantas charter fight for the South Pacific nation of Tonga, the third country they are visiting during their marathon 16-day trip on behalf of the Queen.
Prince Harry was pictured doing a cute little dance on the runway – clearly putting a smile on his pregnant wife’s face.
There they will receive an official welcome to Tonga from Her Royal Highness The Princess Angelika Latufuipeka at the airport.
Later they will be the guests of honour at another welcome reception and dinner in Nuku’alofa with the Tongan ruler, King Tupou VI and his wife, Queen Nanasipau’u, with traditional Tongan entertainment.
