Actress and Writer Gillian Anderson has been named the newest ambassador for L'Oreal, the world's largest beauty brand.

The 56-year-old star will appear in campaigns for the brand’s L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect campaign, and says she wants to highlight that women are brilliant and beautiful at any age.

“Women are extraordinary — unique, complex, brilliant, beautiful inside and out, at every age,” Anderson said in a statement to WWD on the new role. “Yet the conventional narrative surrounding women and aging rarely, if ever, reflects that.

“L’Oréal Paris has championed women of all ages for decades, and I’m thrilled to join them as they inspire women to break free of stereotypes and put themselves at the center of their own stories,” she continued.

Age Perfect is the brand’s range of skincare tailored to provide for the needs of mature skin.

In a promotional clip to mark the announcement, Anderson underlines her intention saying “They say your best years are behind you – I’m just getting started.”

“I wish that in those early years I would have not wasted so much time on by doubts,” she shares. “Age has never been a limit, it’s an advantage.”

“My advice for facing doubt is to say F*** you, she cheekily insists with a grin in the clip. “I leap before I give myself a chance to be afraid”.

The star joins L’Oréal high-profile’ Dream Team’ group of ambassadors that includes Helen Mirren, Eva Longoria, Jane Fonda, Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne.

Anderson has been an outspoken supporter of women’s rights and empowerment. She recently released the book ‘Want,’ a collection of essays on women’s sexual desires.

The new beauty role adds another high profile element to add to her busy career.

Anderson recently appeared as journalist Emily Maitlis in Netflix’s Scoop, a dramatisation of the infamous interview with Prince Andrew, as well as resilient Raynor Winn in the upcoming The Salt Path, a biographical drama based on the 2018 memoir of the same name by Raynor Winn.

This year she will also be seen in the movie Tron 3 and Netflix TV series The Abandons.
