George Clooney has been confirmed as the highest-paid actor of 2018 – but not just because of his Hollywood film roles.
Hollywood actor, George Clooney, didn’t appear on a single silver screen this past year. In fact, the actor hasn’t starred in a film since 2016. His last leading role was as Lee Gates in the crime thriller Money Monster. The movie business is no longer where the actor’s riches are coming from. Clooney made it to the top of the list thanks to the sale of his tequila business.
However, according to Forbes the actor made an incredible US$ 236 million thanks to the purchase of his tequila company Casmigos, which he and his co-founders, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman, sold to British liquor company Diageo for around UD$ 700 million, giving that star the best annual salary of not only his career, but any of any actor’s.
Clooney has previously opened up about the success of the business, telling the International Business Times: “If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes. This reflects Diageo’s belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we’re not going anywhere. We’ll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two,” he said.
Dwayne Johnson, Chris Hemsworth, Adam Sandler, Jackie Chan and Will Smith also made the top ten list.
