The city hosted the first Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival, designed as a regional offshoot of New Zealand Fashion Week, with fashion shows, designer presentations and in-store events.
The new format event is the first year of a three-year partnership between New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) and ChristchurchNZ, offering South Island-based fashion-lovers the opportunity to celebrate their own sense of style, as well as the country’s wider fashion scene.

Buzzed-about highlights of the schedule included Christchurch-born Auckland-based designer Caitlin Crisp’s first large-scale runway show in partnership with local sunless tanning brand BONNIE.
‘The New Guard’ show presented by shopping retailer The Iconic, put the spotlight on hip, forward-thinking designers including Harris Tapper, Claudia Li, Wynn Hamlyn and more and included a performance from Christchurch local Ladi6, as well as a section featuring the retailer’s own in-house labels Lover and Minima Esenciales.
‘The Spring Edit’ multi-designer show presented some of the best looks of the season from Kiwi designers Juliette Hogan, Kathryn Wilson, Karen Walker, Ruby, Kowtow, Knuefermann, twenty-seven names and more.
