French billionaires pledge hundreds of millions of euros to help rebuild Notre Dame Cathedral
In the wake of yesterday's horrific fire in the spire of the Notre Dame Cathedral, the French president, Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that an international fundraising campaign will be launched to “rebuild Notre Dame together.”

The president continued “We will appeal to the greatest talents and we will rebuild Notre-Dame because that’s what the French are waiting for, because that’s what our history deserves, because it’s our deepest destiny.”

French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, who is married to actress Salma Hayek, has pledged 100 million euros towards the rebuilding of the cathedral.

“My father [François Pinault] and I have decided to release as of now from the funds of Artemis a sum of 100 million euros to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame,” Pinault wrote in a statement. 

The Arnault family and the LVMH Group are also committed to assisting with the reconstruction of the extraordinary cathedral. They will donate a total sum of 200 million euros to the fund  the reconstruction, which is a core part of the French History.  In the meantime, the LVMH Group puts at the disposal of the State and the relevant authorities all its teams – including creative, architectural and financial specialists – to help with the reconstruction and fundraising, which is already in progress.
