Fourth case of COVID-19 confirmed in New Zealand
A fourth case of coronavirus in New Zealand has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health.

The positive result is from a man in his 30s, the partner of the woman who was announced as being the second person in New Zealand with the virus earlier this week.

The couple had recently returned from northern Italy – a hotspot for COVID-19.

The pair arrived in Auckland from Singapore on 25 February on Air New Zealand flight NZ0283.

They flew to Palmerston North on Monday on flight NZ5103 and then returned to Auckland on flight NZ8114.

Anyone who believes they may have been in contact with the couple is urged to contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453.

The pair is in isolation and officials are tracking down people they believe could have come into contact with them.

It comes a day after a third case was confirmed in New Zealand, with an Auckland man in his 40s being diagnosed with the illness.

Officials say it’s likely the man contracted the illness from a family member who had been to Iran, who is considered a “probable” case.

The first case of coronavirus in New Zealand was confirmed on Friday last week – a New Zealand citizen who had returned to the country from Iran via Bali.
