Food tour bookings increased by 57% in 2017, new data from TripAdvisor has found, indicating a desire to experience local food scenes while travelling. Of all the countries examined in the study, Canada (594%), the United Kingdom (583%) and Australia (489%) showed the greatest interest in foodie experiences.
“Travellers are increasingly interested in getting local insight on their destination, and food tours and cooking classes a great way to do that,” says TripAdvisor spokesperson Laurel Greatrix. “Guides can be a great resource for finding hidden gems or local favourite spots, and can create an unforgettable part of your trip. Coming home with a local recipe or a new favourite restaurant is the best souvenir.”
