FKA twigs teams up with Viktor&Rolf for new perfume launch

There are few fragrance lovers who aren’t familiar with Viktor&Rolf’s smash hit perfume Flowerbomb.

The bloom-heavy scent, often referred to, fittingly, as an explosion of flowers, has remained a best-seller since it was launched in 2005. 

Since then, the Dutch brand, best known for its avant-garde luxury fashion pieces, has launched many new ‘flanker’ versions of Flowerbomb, but only two entirely new perfumes, Eau Mega (2009) that has since been discontinued, and Bonbon (2015) a caramel-sweet scent that also prompted a number of spin-off versions.

It’s why there has been much excitement around the announcement of an imminent new arrival of a new perfume named Good Fortune

The woo-woo sounding scent is said to be inspired by the brand’s ‘Spiritual Glamour’ Haute Couture Collection, the new fragrance “is the incarnation of a new positive lifestyle, an olfactive manifesto for spirituality and self-potentialisation, bringing you the power to create your own destiny,” says the brand. 

The ‘eco-conscious’ fragrance from Viktor&Rolf has a ‘magnetic’ top note of gentian flower and fennel, a jasmine heart and a creamy and captivating base note of Madagascar vanilla.

Who better to embody the idea than Grammy Award-nominated artist FKA twigs, just announced as the spokesperson and face of the new perfume Good Fortune. 

 “I’ve always loved perfume,” says FKA twigs in a statement. “Scent has always been an integral part of my sensory world and being able to creatively collaborate with Viktor&Rolf on this project has been very fulfilling. I feel there’s this bond that unites us. Becoming part of their universe feels like magic, a dream come true.”

The artist has created the soundtrack, called “Killer” specifically to accompany the campaign.

In selecting FKA twigs to represent Viktor&Rolf’s Good Fortune scent, the brand called the ‘visionary performer’ an ‘artist with an engaging social presence, whose innovations across the fields of music, visual arts and dance represent future worlds and draw from past ones.’

“We’ve been fans of twigs for years,” say Viktor&Rolf designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. “Not only is she one of today’s biggest pop stars, she’s also hugely creative. She’s an icon and absolutely the right personality for Good Fortune.”

FKA twigs will feature in a mystical ‘new-genre’ campaign film directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, to be released later this month. Legendary fashion photographers Inez & Vinoodh created the campaign’s still photography.

The new perfume is expected to be released in the local market in the coming months.
