We get it, life is busy. Dedicating extra minutes to a multiple step skincare routine is obviously worth it, but can sometimes feel all a bit too much, especially at 10pm.
Where are the one-and-done rejuvenators at? Here, as it turns out.
While cleansing your face properly is important, and serums go deeper to deliver concentrated active ingredients, it’s not always necessary to commit to applying layers of products each morning and night.
A new wave of powerhouse products are wrapping multiple benefits into one step, tackling different skin challenges in one go to make life easier for us.
Moisturisers are getting far more complex, going above and beyond adding, and locking in hydration, to provide more in-depth barrier care, protection and addressing the impacts of aging like loss of collagen and elastin.
From peptide moisturisers to plant-based wonders these are the recent arrivals I am rating right now.
Medik8 Advanced Pro-Collagen+ Peptide Cream
Calling on the latest science this moisturiser treats aging skin, delivering moisture and peptides specifically chosen to help rev up collagen production. It aims to help increase firmness and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I find it sinks in beautifully and is easy to use as a daily and evening moisturiser, with no sticky feeling after applying. I have loved the results from one of my most relied-on skin brands.
Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE Multi-Restorative Day Cream With SPF 30 PA++
Elizabeth Arden’s top shelf skincare line Prevage, has been a favourite for years. It was an early adopter of a supercharged antioxidant, Idebenone, that helps skin fend off the impacts of aging by fighting free radical damage.
I love when previous winners are updated with new technology and superior textures and that’s what’s happened with this just-released moisturiser and its night time counterpart, now even more effective in countering collagen damage. They also help improve dark spots, quench skin with moisture and this one even has SPF for extra protection.
It has an undoubtedly luxe feel to match its high performance nature (and yes, price point). Massage into skin for a few seconds and it looks glowing and vibrant and stays that way for hours. The airless pump is a favourite dispensing format, too.
Biossance Squalane + Growth Factor Firming Moisturizer
Remember the squalane boom of several years ago? Biossance led the way in use of the nourishing, moisturising molecule harvested from renewable sugarcane, and we’ve lapped it up for its ability to treat really dry skin.
So obviously our ears pricked up at the idea of a more advanced product that uses what has become the next big focus in skincare – signaling molecules called growth factors. Here, a plant-based peptide is included that improves the look of laxity, fine lines and bounce. Yes please!
goop beauty Youth-Boost NAD+ Peptide Rich Cream
Trust Gwyneth to be at the forefront of skincare breakthroughs. This is a moisturiser from her skincare line Goop, making the most of another trending ingredient to boost NAD+ in the pursuit of brighter, firmer and youthful-looking skin. It also has squalane to keep that skin barrier in great condition, as well as a selection of other plant ingredients to provide a helping hand.
La Mer Rejuvenating Night Cream
The mix in here aims to target eight signs of aging in one night: fine lines, plumpness, softness, radiance, firmness, smoothness, texture, and wrinkles, which makes for a compelling argument.
La Mer once cornered the market for skin luxury so its great to see innovation beyond simple hydration, and this is a one-step wonder that feels special. Of course you can add deeper replenishment by layering with a serum, but it’s got plenty of key actives that will help skin look better by morning, with longer lasting results coming over time.
