Five of the best scented hair mists that won’t damage your locks

Five of the best scented hair mists that won’t damage your locks
A dedicated fragranced hair mist can be a beautiful way to wear your favourite scent.

If you’re a fan of fragrance, and regularly spritz here, there and everywhere, the idea of a perfume designed just for your hair might seem a tad unnecessary.

By all means, if you’re never had any issues, using your regular perfume in your hair can be one way to help your favourite scent last all day. There is something so lovely about the way, as you move your head during the day, the perfume gently diffuses, leaving a beautiful fragrant trail and letting you regularly catch a whiff of the notes too.

That’s because hair is porous, and can hold onto the molecules in perfume.

However, given alcohol is a key ingredient contained in most perfumes, repeat application is likely to have a drying effect and can add to the damage your locks take on a daily basis.

Hair scents specifically designed for your locks take this into account and are carefully formulated to ensure they enhance and strengthen, rather than damage strands. Plenty contain hair-nourishing ingredients and some even have styling benefits too.

Those with sensitive skin may find spraying perfume directly on to skin causes a reaction, which is where hair perfumes come in handy.

Light and fresh, hair perfumes are a great solution in summer, when Eau De Parfums can sometimes seem a bit too much, or you find the warmth of your skin means they’re gone by lunchtime.

Some people can also experience photosensitivity from fragrance after application when skin is exposed to the sun, so hair perfumes can also come in useful during a day outdoors.

To use, spritz hair mist throughout the mid-lengths to ends of your hair.

Here are five of the best options to try:

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Perfume

A blend of honey and floral notes, this scent from Netherlands-based honey-powered hair brand Gisou is the fresh and sweet spritz that’s perfect for wearing all summer long. The honey is also included to add vitamins, minerals and moisture to your locks.

Dior J’Adore hair mist

Dior’s J’adore is an iconic floral perfume but some people can find it to be bold and intense. Here, the pretty scent, that include notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang and Damascus rose is a touch lighter, lingering on hair and leaving a subtle trail throughout the day.

Byredo Gypsy Water Hair Perfume

If you’re the free-spirited type and love the dusky, woody spice of this indie-favourite, this mist from the luxurious Swedish fragrance brand will come in handy. The travel-sized spray is also perfect to stash in your suitcase with no leakage or breakage issues to worry about.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her Hair Mist

A great option to gift, this best-selling rosy, musky floral scent is popular with a wide range of people and its hair mist form is just as appealing.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Hair Mist

Perhaps the most talked-about and coveted perfume right now, this romantic and alluring blend of jasmine, saffron amber and woods is ideal for a day-to night scent. It’s also a slightly more accessible way to try out the scent before committing to a full EDP too.
