Tell us about the inspiration behind Stow Lockets.
Creating Stow Lockets has been super exciting, and I truly believe that we are forging our way to creating a quality New Zealand brand that exudes my passion for all things stylish and unique. I absolutely adore jewellery, especially pieces that allow me to be creative and express who I am. Our vision was to create a luxurious range of petite meaningful keepsakes that could be stowed safely inside a locket. Precious story-telling jewellery is the essence of Stow Lockets.
What made you fall in love with creating jewellery?
When I was little (maybe 7 years old) I used to make jewellery out of buttons; my nana had a large jar of unique buttons all sorts of sizes, colours and designs. I loved using my imagination (and still do) to create unique necklaces and earrings to wear. Love you Nana.
What inspires each charm you create?
Developing charms that people can emotionally connect to and build their own precious stories with is essentially what is important to me and the rest of the brilliant team that are behind the Stow brand.
My husband, Tim, and my two little daughters and I love the outdoors and travel. We are inspired by gorgeous places and interesting people. I feel especially lucky to live in beautiful New Zealand where it is easy to relax and think about what is important in life. So my Stow Locket holds a little silver fern, my treasured stowaway family and lucky horse shoe charms, also a stylish gold bow sits next to my wee wishing stars, reminding me never to give up on my dreams.
Do you have a personal favourite from your collection?
The Stowaway Girl – I think a lot of us would like to be just like her – daring and cute!
What are three things every woman should have in her jewellery collection?
Something that is cool and unique, a piece that you can wear that defines who you are or even what you want to become. At the moment my “fave” piece is my Stow Locket, it tells my story.
Something that is classic and forever stylish that can be worn on special events and passed down from generation to generation. Gold, a diamond, or a statement piece…….expensive and precious!
Lastly, something that you absolutely love that may have been given to you by someone very important in your life. It can be of any style, of any value. For me it’s my wedding ring, designed by my husband and my specially blessed NZ Greenstone Evolve charm bracelet, both carry so many memories close to my heart.
