In a post by the Ryan Murphy Productions Instagram account, striking casting images captured Sarah Pidgeon in character as Carolyn and Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr.
‘American Love Story’ will follow the relationship timeline of the couple.
John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy were one of the most iconic American couples of the 1990s. The glamorous pair had a famously passionate, but at times turbulent, relationship before their tragic death in a plane crash in 1999.
Murphy, the creator behind TV shows such as ‘Glee’ and ‘American Horror Story’,’Nip/Tuck’, and ‘The Politician’ revealed over a thousand actors auditioned for each of the roles.
“We absolutely found the perfect choices,” he wrote while sharing the images.
The series, that will also star Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy, began shooting this week according to Murphy, and is expected to air on Valentine’s Day (February 14) week of 2026 on FX and will also stream on Hulu.
John F. Kennedy Jr. was the son of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. He was a lawyer, journalist, and magazine publisher and was often in the public eye, with every move followed in gossip columns.
Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was a Calvin Klein publicist known for her understated fashion and elegance. She began dating JFJ Jr. around 1994 and when they married in 1996, she quickly became swept into the social pages, lauded as a style icon.
Tragically, the couple died in a plane crash in July 1999, along with Carolyn’s sister Lauren. JFK Jr. was piloting the small aircraft when it went down near Martha’s Vineyard in poor visibility.
