A representative for the 37-year-old Black Eyed Peas singer confirmed that she and her 40-year-old actor husband Josh Duhamel are to become parents for the first time, after he tweeted about the news: “Fergie and Me and BABY makes three.”
The expectant mum also took to the social media site Twitter to share her joy: “Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump” along with a photo of the soon to be parents when they were babes themselves – perhaps an indication of what we can expect the bub to look like.
This will be the first child for the couple who married in 2009. They also appeared in an interview with Oprah Winfrey late last year, revealing to the former talk-show host that they hoped to have two children.
“We negotiated that early on. He told me he wanted five and I said I’m not going any higher than two,” Fergie had said during the interview.
The parents-to-be had come under the media spotlight earlier this month, after Duhamel tried to avoid answering pregnancy rumour questions on the red carpet for his latest film Safe Haven. The star denied the rumours but did tell reporters having a child would be his “greatest life achievement”.
Fergie joined the Black Eyed Peas in 2003 and helped to make the band’s pop-inspired hip-hop tunes like, My Humps, I Got a Feeling and Boom Boom Pow, worldwide hits. She eventually launched her debut solo album The Duchess in 2006, featuring five top 5 hits including Fergalicious and Big Girls Don’t Cry.
Hubby Duhamel is known for his role in the Transformer films and on the television series Las Vegas. His latest film Safe Haven has just released in cinemas worldwide.
