Italian film served as inspiration for the collection presented in Rome. The collection was described by the Maison as an “autobiographical synthesis of a moment suspended in time, a bella confusione – the beautiful confusion borrowed from the title Ennio Flaiano suggested to Fellini for 8 ½”.
The collection’s pieces fuse fashion history and contemporary syntax. “Masculine vests with delicate lapels are paired with long, full skirts and tailcoats. Dresses in very fine lace or contrasted with bas-relief patterns are combined with military jackets with black edges and detailed buttons.”
In a further nod to Fellini, Chiuri also paid homage to the Fontana sisters, who conceived Anita Ekberg’s outfits in the director’s masterpiece La Dolce Vita, through the use of black and red velvet.
The collection was presented in the gardens of the Villa Albani Torlonia, and combined haute couture and ready-to-wear creations.
