Your wildest hair dreams are about to come true.

For anyone who’s ever dreamed of having mermaid hair, listen up. The secret to luscious, shiny, long hair is more accessible than you ever dreamed.

Whether you hair is thinning, frizzy or splitting at the ends, if your scalp is dry, or if your hair grows at snail-pace, the solution is out there, and its name is castor oil.

This well kept beauty secret won’t drain your bank account. In fact, it can be bought from your local health store or from many online specialists.

Castor oil has many nutrients like vitamin E, omega-9 and 6 fatty acids, and proteins which give it unique moisturizing properties that are ideal for maintaining healthy hair. It also contains ricinoleic acid which accelerates blood circulation to the scalp, hence increasing hair growth. If that doesn’t already sound good enough, it also has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties, making castor oil a total homerun when it comes to looking after your hair.

How to Use Castor Oil

Like many things, less is more when it comes to using castor oil. Small amounts of plain oil can be used for an all-over treatment.

For best results, apply castor oil to your hair 1-2 times per week. The oil works best on damp hair (not wet!) and needs to be left on for several hours or overnight. Handy hint: after applying use a shower cap or towel to avoid getting the oil on anything that’s not your hair.

To remove the oil, simply shampoo your hair to wash it out. If it is a little stubborn, crack and egg, whisk until smooth and then massage the egg into the scalp. This will help to break down the oil, and even adds additional nutrients to the hair. Alternatively, condition your hair before getting in the shower, massaging the conditioner into your scalp to help remove the castor oil. Then, shampoo as usual.

After that…

Keep applying and expect great results. Lots of people have found that their hair grows at 3-5 times its normal rate, when using castor oil, so there’s a lot to look forward to.
