We’re buzzing over Mount Maunganui-based Marle’s new boutique opening.
More than a decade after designer Juliet Souter established Marle as a knitwear label in 2015, the brand’s new Auckland store in Newmarket provides an opportunity to present its now fully fledged womenswear collection in a standalone boutique for the first time. Thus far the label’s garments have only been available online or from a selection of retailers across New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
The boutique can be found in Newmarket’s Osborne Lane shopping precinct, and joins a buzzing community of local labels such Juliette Hogan, jewellery label Zoe & Morgan, menswear designers I Love Ugly and knitwear brand Standard Issue.
The clean and elegant space has been overseen by architect Rufus Knight to showcase Marle’s revolving seasonal collections.
Knitwear is still a focus year-round but Souter now also heroes a wider range of natural fibres such as wool, silk and premium cotton in her collections of elevated, yet understated, contemporary womenswear. You can also find the label’s brand-new menswear line instore.
While Marle produces several ranges a year, a considered approach aims to provide garments that remain reached for in your wardrobe for far longer than a season or two.
“Good design is about creating pieces people want to wear over and over again,” the designer has said of her ethos. “Wearable pieces that are not attached to a season. It’s about combining simplicity with everyday luxury.”
Marle is at Osborne Lane shopping precinct, Newmarket, Auckland.
