Explore the Rocky Mountains
If you're planning on visiting the Rocky Mountains make sure you take some warm clothes, a camera, and all the excitement you can possibly fit in.

A trip to the Canadian Rockies is full of rich, unforgettable moments, taking your breath away at every opportunity. The scenery is breathtaking, and the adventures are limitless. Witness an amazing array of wildlife, charming mountain villages, and an endless amount of beautiful vistas.

It’s hard to know where to start when visiting the Rockies, so along with Rocky Mountaineer, we’ve chosen a handful of the best activities for you do (when you’re not traveling in luxury on the Rocky Mountaineer, of course!)

Take a Scenic Drive

Take the Rocky Mountaineer “Journey through the Clouds Tour”. Travel through scenic valleys, the Coast Mountains range and the Fraser Canyon with its spectacular white water rapids and dramatic landscape. It follows the route of the Fraser River, home of British Columbia’s largest salmon run, and passes by the Albreda Glacier and magnificent Pyramid Falls, seeing a range of wildlife on the way. The highlight of this route is majestic Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The 2 Day Rocky Mountaineer SilverLeaf Service includes 7 Nights accommodation, 5 days full-size car rental and more, from $3,935 per person twin share.

Listen to Elk Bugle

Visit in the fall to see the herds of majestic elk and listen to the bulls “bugle.”

Bugles simply communicate that the bull is in the area with his harem, that the cows that they are straying too far from the bull, and that the bull is displeased. Others communicate to other bulls that they are too close to his harem and that he is willing and able to defend his cows.

Go For a Hike

Just when we suggested you get in your car, we’re suggesting you get out. Hiking is one of the best ways to see the Rockies. There are endless amounts of short hikes for families and long, difficult hikes for fitness buffs and mountain climbers. The outdoors really is your oyster.

Go Rafting

Experience the thrill of white water rafting near Banff, Alberta, in the Canadian Rockies. This is one of the most exciting and history-rich rivers in Canada. Or start your whitewater rafting adventure in Jasper, by riding the Athabasca River. There are plenty of tours that will give you a great Rockies rafting experience. Get into the Canadian spirit and give it a go.

Spot a Moose

While these big creatures seem slow and gentle, make sure you view them only from a distance. A moose can weigh up to 680kgs and can run more than 50 kilometers per hour – a competitor no one wants to face in a running race. The effort is well worth it though, look for moose in ponds, lakes, and places with willows.

And more…

Don’t miss out on anything. Fully experience the Pacific North West with Rocky Mountaineer tours and excursions. Consider starting and ending your tour in Alaska, the perfect bookend, or extend your stay in the area by booking an extra night in Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria or Calgary. Remember to always add an extra bite of luxury, by adding a meal plan at your hotel, which you can arrive to and from in style with a private pick up or drop off at the airport.

For more information, visit their website. They also offer an early booking bonus; Book a qualifying 2019 Rocky Mountaineer package of 8 days or more and receive up to $1,000* per couple added value. What will you spend your credit on? *Conditions apply.
