72 years in the making, Trafalgar’s African heritage is rich and abounding.

Africa’s abundant beauty, spectacular scenery, bold energy, and intensely rich culture, leaves no question why it’s the perfect destination for an awe-filled holiday. In fact, it’s even better if it’s with Trafalgar.

Now is the perfect time for you to explore Africa, as this year marks the centenary of the life of one of the greatest leaders and fathers of Africa, if not the world – Nelson Mandela. Trafalgar’s new ‘coming home’ program pays homage to this, with a collection of Africa guided holidays, packed with firsthand knowledge, heritage, stories and secrets. The Tollman family are dedicated to sharing the Africa experience with as many people as possible, CEO of Trafalgar, Gavin Tollman saying, “This continent is our home, the place we know best. It is critical for us to do justice to that legacy, sharing with you the secrets and hidden gems that are part of our family.”

Consisting of three different unique and customised trip styles, Trafalgar offers something for every kind of traveller, with guests getting the chance to explore one destination in depth, a number of countries or extend a trip with one of its  ‘Mini Stays.’ Each unique travel style offers guests a more personalised experience, however they choose to explore.

Guests will get up-close and personal with wildlife on a 4×4 journey in search of the black rhino, meet a Damara family over coffee and fresh vetkoek (traditional African fried dough bread), served with apricot jam in a Mondesa Township in Namibia. They’ll travel Down the banks of the Zambezi River, or stay at The Oyster Box Hotel in Durban a Red Carnation Hotel where your evenings are spent overlooking its iconic red and white lighthouse and the Indian Ocean.

Each trip is immersive and intimate, with a maximum of 15 passengers per trip and on some adventures as few as four guests, for an in-depth cultural experience.

Taking a trip with Trafalgar is a much deeper holiday experience. When you travel with Trafalgar, you join in their efforts to make a real difference in Africa. They have an ongoing commitment to sustainability, with various Join Trafalgar initiatives, as well as a partnership with Tread Right Foundation, which includes wildlife initiatives, sustainable tourism practices, creating more employment opportunities and preserving and protecting all the communities that they visit.
