Everything you Need to Know About Paris Fashion Week

With New York, London and Milan Fashion Week now behind us for another season, Paris Fashion Week signals the end of a hectic fashion month schedule. Here’s what to expect from the week that’s often touted as the most-anticipated event of the month.

All on Eyes on Chanel

Given the passing of the Karl Lagerfeld, who helmed the house as creative director for 35 years, Chanel’s Autumn/Winter 2019 show is already the most talked about on the Paris Fashion Week schedule. Karl Lagerfeld’s final collection for the house will be shown on the morning of the 5th of March, Paris time, with long-standing studio director Virginie Viard now taking the direction of the house.

And the Front Row

When it comes to a star-studded FRow, Paris Fashion Week takes the cake attracting the all of A-list fashion circuit regulars. Keep your eyes on the front row at Dior – take a look at our favourite looks from the collection here – where you’ll spot the house muses Cara Delevingne and Jennifer Lawrence, and Louis Vuitton, where Emma Stone and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner are likely to be in attendance. As far as the actual catwalk is concerned, Paris Fashion Week also tends to bring out the biggest names in the modelling world. Keep an eye out for the Hadid sisters, Kendall Jenner and Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber.

The Return of Lanvin

Much-loved fashion house Lanvin will return to the Parisian runway on 27 February, Paris time. It will be the debut collection for the new creative director, Bruno Sialelli, who was the former menswear designer for Loewe.

Hedi Slimane’s Celine, Take Two

If there was a collection that left the fashion world divided last season it had to be Hedi Slimane’s debut collection for Celine. The ex Saint Laurent creative director was criticised for throwing to caution to the wind and ignoring the fashion house’s heritage and loyal clientele. Tim Blanks, editor-at-large for Business of Fashion, labelled the collection “a gust of toxic masculinity.” Fashion critics, Celine enthusiasts and Slimane’s staunchest supporters will be waiting for Slimane’s next collection with bated breath.

After the Oscars: The Must-See Looks from Vanity Fair’s Party

Once Hollywood’s most-anticipated awards ceremony comes to an end, our favourite celebrities get the chance to take their style game to the next level at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. The event is arguably the evening’s most-anticipated after party and often sees celebrities who may have played it safe on the red carpet bring out all the fashion stops.

The evening’s favourite star, Lady Gaga, complemented the jaw-dropping 141-year old Tiffany Diamond with a subtle yet breathtaking gown created by Brandon Maxwell. While gowns with thigh-high splits seemed to be the favourite choice for many including Brie Larson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kendall Jenner opted for a particularly daring number which you can check out in the gallery below.
