Natural skincare business Ethique has been re-certified as a B Corp, meaning it has once again met the highest standards of environmental performance, legal accountability, and public transparency. Not only has it renewed its certification, however – Ethique has also received the highest score in New Zealand for the second time.
The local company was created in 2012 by qualified biologist Brianne West. Horrified by the amount of plastic waste caused by hair products, she began working on a solid shampoo. Ethique now offers a range of completely solid moisturisers, face creams, deodorants, shampoos, household cleaning products and more, all made from naturally derived ingredients, sourced ethically and sustainably, and packaged in compostable packaging.
“Ethique was founded upon and is guided by firm sustainability principles and it was important to us that we had independent certification and validation of these,” West says. “B Corp certification is an internationally recognised certification body which has rigorous checks to prove that we do what we say we do.”
