Not to be missed, biopic ‘Rocketman’ is sure to send Elton John fans into a frenzy.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, singer-songwriter Elton John is the fourth highest selling recording artist of all time. His flamboyant stage shows and eventful private life has kept him in the headlines and so it is little wonder a biopic, Rocketman is now being made about his life.
Starring Welsh actor, Taron Egerton (Eddie the Eagle) as John, the film also stars Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, John’s longtime lyricist, and Dallas Bryce Howard (Jurassic World) as John’s mother, Sheila.
The film follows John’s life from his early days at London’s Royal Academy of Music to pop superstardom.
John has always made a priority of playing live on stage as part of his long-lasting career. He has performed more than 3000 concerts in over 75 countries around the world, including Australia and New Zealand, since 1970 and was the first Western artist to tour the USSR, in 1979.
John, who is said to own over 1000 pairs of glasses, celebrated his wedding to partner David Furnish in 2014, shortly after gay marriage was legalised in England. Both John and Furnish are listed as producers of Rocketman. Wonder whether the film will also include his society Sydney wedding to German sound engineer, Renate Blauel?
Described as “an epic musical fantasy”, Rocketman is due for release in May 2019.
