John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were a power couple in power suits on Sunday night at the 2019 Writers Guild Awards, both channelling 007 in black tuxedos for the guild’s East Coast ceremony.
Krasinski was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for A Quiet Place at the 2019 Writers Guild Awards ceremony. His wife Emily Blunt Blunt coming off her SAG Award win for the same film, in which her husband also starred.
The couple arrived at the awards – hosted by Chelsea Perretti, with concurrent ceremonies taking place simultaneously in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton and in New York at the Edison Ballroom – both wearing tuxedos.
Krasinski, 39, was wearing a classic black tuxedo with a bowtie and a gold watch seen peeking out of his dinner jacket.
Not to be outdone, Blunt, 35, wore a frillier, more outrageous version of a classic tux, with a lacier black jacket and an over-sized black bowtie.
The two posed together on the red carpet before Krasinski gamely stepped aside to let his wife take the spotlight.
Krasinski was however on the night second to Eighth Grade, Written by Bo Burnham; A24 which took the award for Best Original Screenplay.
According to the Daily Mail, A Quiet Place earned US$188 million domestic and US$340.9 million worldwide from just a US$17 million budget.
