How to Get Happy, Healthy, Hydrated Skin for Spring
If you want healthy, well-hydrated skin you need to include hyaluronic acid in your routine. Here's why.

In 1990 Elizabeth Arden revolutionised our beauty routine when they harnessed the youth-restoring properties of ceramide in one little capsule. This month Hyaluronic Acid Ceramide Capsules Hydra-Plumping Serum (available in 30 and 60 capsules) joins the beauty house’s stellar line-up of biodegradable serum capsules – which include Advanced Ceramide, line-erasing Retinol and brightening Vitamin C.

Why hyaluronic acid?

Regardless of age, we all want well-hydrated, healthy skin. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring ingredient that is found in skin, plays a crucial role in keeping skin hydrated around the clock. “It has this remarkable capacity to attract, bind and retain water. And in doing so, it plumps the skin,” explains renowned Sydney-based dermatologist Dr Annika Smith.

As we age, however, the hyaluronic acid found in our skin starts to decline. Environmental factors – such as exposure to the sun and low humidity – and our lifestyle can also have an impact on our skin’s natural levels of hyaluronic acid.

And while hyaluronic acid is found in an array of skincare products that promise to plump and hydrate skin, not all hyaluronic acid is created equal. The skin-hydrating hyaluronic acid at the heart of Elizabeth Arden’s new Hydra-Plumping Serum Capsules is no run-of-the-mill hyaluronic acid. By harnessing advanced skincare technology, Elizabeth Arden has created a hyaluronic acid molecule that is 500* times smaller than traditional hyaluronic acid molecules. What this means is that the formulation is better able to penetrate the skin leading to deeply hydrated, plumped skin.

The dream team

Alongside nourishing hyaluronic acid, the new capsules also feature a serious dose of Elizabeth Arden’s signature ceramides. “Ceramides are a lipid substance and they play an integral role in skin barrier integrity, function, maintenance and support. They’re pivotal to skin health,” explains Smith.

The molecules work to strengthen the skin’s barrier function and to keep skin firm and youthful. But it’s when these two superstar ingredients are paired together that the formula creates a unique double-lock hydration system. Hyaluronic acid draws in moisture, while the skin-strengthening ceramides lock it in preventing future moisture loss.

The end result is youthful-looking that is deeply hydrated and a complexion that is stronger and more resilient than before.
