We always knew Dua Lipa would bring her fashion A-game when it came to her wedding.
She proved us right with a cool take on registry dressing in a Schiaparelli couture skirt suit and hat for her civil ceremony to actor Callum Turner.
But wow, she really took things to the next level by choosing to wear a Chanel Haute Couture creation for a larger celebratory ceremony held Palermo, Sicily.
Dua and Callum shared their vows during a glitzy black-tie occasion at Villa Valguarnera, a historic 18th-century mansion near the Sicilian capital. The wedding, attended by a large group of family and friends reportedly included fireworks, a performance by Elton John, and a meal by Michelin chef Tony Lo Coco.
Now, Chanel has shared a closer look at the dress and some of its captivating details.
The gown, which was handcrafted in the ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, is the first Haute Couture wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy since his arrival at Chanel. Haute couture is the highest level of custom-made fashion, handcrafted to exact measurements using exceptional materials and techniques.
Blazy’s creation was brought to life through the intricate work of several of Chanel’s specialised, historic, artisan workshops. The fitted lace gown and 2m train was hand-embroidered with 480,000 beads by Atelier Montex and featured trompe l’oeil jewels requiring 1,155 hours of needlework by Lesage. It was also delicately underlined with 25,000 feathers by Lemarié, appearing to ‘float’ away from the fabric of the dress.
To finish the romantic look, the singer donned a 6m tulle veil, hand-embroidered with beads and feathers and enhanced by hand-cut organza appliqués. Peeking out from her hem were white satin pumps, custom-made by Massaro.
In contrast, Dua’s new husband Turner looked dashing in a suit and bow-tie by Pharrell Williams for Louis Vuitton.
