Drop of the Week: Tupari 2014 Late Harvest Riesling
Indulge with something sweet this weekend.

From the Awatere Valley, this wine was grown on a thin terrace stretching along the top of the cliff face with magnificent valley views. The Turnbull family along with winemaker, Glenn Thomas believe in the kaitiaki lifestyle. The Maori word means ‘custodian or caretaker of the land’ and the family believes it is the perfect expression of the lifestyle and relationship they have with their slice of the Awatere Valley.

The grapes were left on the vine for an additional month to encourage the noble rot to develop in ideal conditions. Once Glenn was happy with the berry shrivel and the flavours, we hand picked the grapes and the juice was carefully fermented.

This is the first ever dessert wine for Tupari and won Trophy Gold from the International Wine Competition in 2015.

This Riesling has a marmalade, honey, violet and orange peel aromas. Luscious apricot, honey and floral notes on the palate leave you with a long and elegant finish.

Serve this sweet dessert wine with your favourite cheesecake or creme brulee as the perfect end to your night. If you prefer something not as sweet, pair with creamy cheeses like camembert.
