The Australian Ballet is here to help you enjoy your days spent at home with its online platform, where you can watch beautiful performances, go behind the scenes of the rehearsal process and even learn to dance yourself.

The ‘At Home with Ballet TV’ digital season allows you to stream premium-quality productions for free, with each ballet performance available to be watched online for two weeks.

Currently running is the 2011 production of Romeo and Juliet, choreographed by the great Graeme Murphy and starring Madeleine Eastoe as Juliet and Kevin Jackson as Romeo.

Viewers can even take a peak behind the scenes and see the choreography in progress, the creation of the production’s costumes, and learn about the stars of the show.

Also in the line-up is a triple bill program (Murphy, Page, McGregor) running from 14 May to 28 May, followed by La Sylphide (Bruhn after Bournonville) and Paquita (Petipa). More performances are set to be announced.

Viewers are encouraged to donate to help keep the company afloat while it is unable to put on performances. Those who want to view from outside Australia can purchase the performances from iTunes.

If watching the productions inspires you to put on some ballet shoes yourself, you can learn the basics at Ballet TV too. The ‘Dancing with David’ series of videos, with artistic director David McAllister, allows you to learn how to perform a plié, chassé, retiré and much more.
