Dior takes inspiration from Ukrainian artist for Paris couture presentation

The work of Ukrainian artist Olesia Trofymenko acts as the starting point for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior autumn-winter 2022-2023 haute couture collection.

At the heart of Trofymenko’s work is the tree of life, connecting all forms of creation.

With this emblem being in line with stylistic codes shared by many lands, Dior’s collection is comprised of pieces through which resonate the imagination of different folkloric customs inspiring all cultures in an open dialogue.

The branches, trunk and roots of the tree of life feature on several garments through sumptuous embroideries. Beige nuances are sometimes punctuated with a touch of black or blue.

Dresses are adorned with patchworks of braids composed of bronze and black lace and guipure. Long, airy dresses that follow the lines of the body are an interplay of silk chiffon smocks. The ‘New Look’ silhouette is reinterpreted in new ways through innovative use of fabrics.
