Dior is again working with the world’s most Michelin-starred female chef, Anne-Sophie Pic, to create delightful edible creations for two new Cafés Dior.
The first has opened in the heart of Ginza, Tokyo, and the second will open in Chengdu, China, on December 22.
Beyond simply captivating sweet treats, the top chef has turned her hand to equally-beautiful savory creations for the cafes as well.
Pic immersed herself in the Dior archives to help dream up the new menu items, each intended to reflect the fashion and beauty house’s identity and legacy.
From the signature Cannage pattern, inspired by the cane-woven seats of Napoleon III-style chairs that Christian Dior used to seat guests at his fashion shows, to the couture bow, via the revolutionary New Look, the iconic Junon dress and a leopard motif, Dior’s codes embellish the appetizers.
The main courses revolve around the theme of the oval – a symbol inextricably linked to the history of 30 Montaigne in Paris.
Each also pays homage to the spirit of the legendary dishes of André Pic, her grandfather, as well as to La Cuisine cousu-main, a book revealing Christian Dior’s favorite dishes.
The desserts, in turn, reinterpret eternal Dior emblems, such as the Granville rose, the toile de Jouy, the button and the compass rose.
