Dick Van Dyke made history at the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards, becoming the oldest person to ever win a prize at age 98.

The legendary performer won for his guest performance on soap opera Days of Our Lives.

“I don’t believe this. I feel like a spy from nighttime television,” Van Dyke said.

“I’m the oldest nominee in history. I can’t believe it. I was playing old men all my life.

“If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself!”

The actor, who said he had a “wonderful” time on Days, appeared in a four-part story arc as ‘Mystery Man/Timothy Robicheaux’.

His character was an amnesiac, and character Marlena (played by Diedre Hall) was tasked with helping him bridge gaps in his memory.

“I’m 98 years old, can you believe it? This tops a lifetime of 80 years in the business. I love you, God bless,” Van Dyke said.
