South African great-grandmother Georgina Harwood wanted to celebrate her milestone birthday in a big way. Along with 15 of her dearest family members Ms Harwood fulfilled her wish to jump out of a plane at 12,000 feet.
Admittedly, it wasn’t her first jump. She first took the leap when she was a sprightly 92 years of age, with this dive being her third.
Ms. Harwood described the experience that took place in Cape Town, South Africa as exhilarating saying,
“ It was definitely a very special experience – even this jump seemed to be a little bit different from the previous ones.”
In an era where young singers like Ed Sheeran still sing lyrics such as “darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70”, Georgina Harwood shows that there’s plenty of life beyond the limitations often put on the elderly.
To cap off a successful jump, a delicious celebratory cocktail was waiting for her on the ground.
Ms Harwood isn’t done celebrating yet as she also plans to cage dive with deadly sharks. Aside from teaching us all a thing or two about old age, she is raising funds for her favourite charity South Africa’s National Sea Rescue Institute.
