The 2018 CFDA Awards: Shock, Surprise and Celebration

The CFDA Awards are the Oscars of the fashion industry, honouring the brightest stars in American design.

The annual ceremony took place on Monday night at the Brooklyn Museum, where a big ballroom was filled with everyone Oprah to Donatella Versace.

Past winners include everyone from the Olsen twins to Raf Simons for Calvin Klein. It was no surprise then that Simons won Womenswear Designer of the Year for the second year in a row.

Surprise, however, was on the face of Supreme founder James Jebbia when he accepted Supreme’s CFDA for Menswear Designer of the Year. “I’ve never considered Supreme to be a fashion company or myself to be a designer, but I appreciate the recognition for what we do,” he said.

Kim Kardashian, who is known for her voluptuous body, said that she too was shocked that she was winning a fashion award when she’s naked most of the time. Kim won the Influencer Award, which will be of surprise to nobody.

H&M to Open Largest NZ Store this August

Swedish fashion giant H&M is set to open the doors to its largest New Zealand store on the 30th of August at Auckland’s newest shopping precinct, Commerical Bay. Located on the corner of Customs Street and Queen Street in the Auckland CBD, the Commerical Bay location will be H&M’s second Auckland store.

Fashion fanatics won’t be disappointed either – the store will be set over four floors and will showcase the latest apparel and accessories for men, women, kids and baby. The opening of the new store will also see the H&M Home concept in Auckland for the first time. “We are also looking forward to introducing the H&M Home concept to our Auckland customers as we feel this really rounds out our wide assortment offering for this flagship store,” said Hans Andersson, Country Manager for H&M Australia and New Zealand.

H&M Home will debut in Auckland this August.
