Central Otago’s month-long food festival returns this September

By MiNDFOOD

Central Otago's biggest culinary festival kicks off on 24 September.

Discover the flavours of Central Otago at the region’s biggest culinary showcase. Eat.Taste.Central’s 2021 programme features top wineries, gourmet eateries and exquisite dessert and world-class wine pairings.

One of the most exciting events of the festival is the Feraud 140 – Weekend of Wine. Taking place on 1 – 4 October, the event celebrates 140 years since Jean Desire Feraud won Central Otago’s first gold medal for wine. Head along to the event for special wine tastings, tours of vineyards and a picturesque long lunch above the wines.

“From Cromwell and Bannockburn in the west, to Roxburgh and Millers Flat in the south, Waipiata, Naseby and Danseys Pass in the north, through Alexandra, Clyde and so many places in between, chefs, business owners and producers have been busy planning their special entries for this Regional Menu,” said Anthony (Antz) Longman Tourism Central Otago campaign manager.

“As the days warm up and the landscape bursts back into life from the winter chill, E.T.C is about locals and visitors getting out and exploring all corners of Central Otago, visiting their favourite venues and discovering new ones and voting for their favourite dishes.”

“We encourage people to gather friends and family and make plans to take a culinary road trip through Central Otago this spring. It’s a wonderful time of year and what could be better than fabulous food and drink served in stunning locations, and with a story to tell.”

Eat.Taste.Central runs from 24 September – 25 October across Central Otago. Over 70 dishes and events will be featured during the festival with 41 local venues participating.
