Celebrities That Love Dogs

It's National Puppy Day and what better way to celebrate than with nine of our favourite celebrities who have their own canine companion?

Celebrities That Love Dogs

On National Puppy Day we celebrate man’s best friend. Dogs are amazing animals that make loyal and fun companions for everyone – including celebrities. Here we round up a few of our favourite stars who have a pet dog of their own. Did you know all these celebrities were dog lovers?

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer has a beautiful Golden Retriever called Birdie. Watch the pair bonding in the video below.

Birdie asked me to mention #ReadAcrossAmerica Day, because the best gift you can give your dogs…ummm, kids…is to read to them– even if they're drawing or building legos while you do it! #BooksWithBirdie #readtoyourpups #mjusi • It’s extra rainy and dreary today in LA. Here are some of our favorite stories for a cozy, comforting afternoon: -The Quiltmaker’s Journey by Jeff Brumbeau, illustrated by Gail de Marcken *One of my fave stories about generosity of spirit. -Root Beer and Banana by Sarah Sullivan, illustrated by Greg Shed *One of the best books about friendship. -On Mother’s Lap by Ann Herbert Scott, illustrated by Glo Coalson *A reassuring book for kids with growing families. -Mama Panya’s Pancakes by Mary & Rich Chamberlin, illustrated by Julia Cairns *I love this story of community and a boy’s faith in his friends.

“Life is better with dogs”, Drew told ET Online in 2016. The star has owned several dogs over the years, and now has two: rescue pooch Douglas and golden retriever called Lucy.

Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is a big advocate for animal rights and has adopted a number of dogs, including Tucker (pictured below).

Have some fun today!

Josh Duhamel

Josh Duhamel has a thing for Dachshunds, having previously owned a male called Meatloaf and now the proud owner of a female, Zoe. But he also loves any dog he comes across, such as the on-set dog pictured below.

What should we do today pal?

Oprah

“Dogs? What dogs? These are my fur children, and they always make me feel happier and more human”, Oprah says on her own website. The star has a team of dogs – currently five – which she frequently takes on walks and posts photos of to Instagram. Oprah’s dogs are called Sadie, Sunny, Layla, Luke and Lauren.

Barack Obama

Obama famously brought his two dogs, Bo and Sunny, to the White House during his eight years in office. Bo was known as the First Dog of the United States and was often spotted with the former President strolling the White House grounds. Both Bo and Sunny are Portuguese Water Dogs, a unique breed dictated by Obama’s daughter Malia’s need for a hypoallergenic breed.

Happy #NationalPetDay.

Reese has three gorgeous dogs – a chocolate Labrador named Hank, a French Bulldog named Pepper and a German Shephard named Nash (after Reese’s childhood hometown). The dogs regularly feature on the star’s Instagram.
