Cannes Film Festival: See The Most Show-Stopping Red Carpet Moments

The annual Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off and celebrities are walking the red carpet to celebrate the films in the running for this year's competition.

The festival, which runs until May 24, is an event to celebrate this year’s films taking part. However the occasion is also regularly a showcase of glamourous fashion worn by some of the film industry’s most recognisable names and other notable invited guests as they attend press conferences and film showings.

Although this year the organisers have instituted a new red carpet dress code that bans ‘nudity,’ as well as voluminous dresses with trains, some early attendees appeared to have flouted the rules.

Heidi Klum was an early arrival in a pink organza gown with extended train by Elie Saab.

The Cannes Film Festival official FAQ website reads, “nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,” due to “decency reasons.” The rules further note that “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.”
