Cameron Diaz likes her skin ‘much better’ since she’s stopped wearing make-up

Cameron Diaz has noticed a huge difference in her skin since she stopped wearing as much make-up.

The actress has largely avoided the spotlight since welcoming daughter Raddix with her husband Benji Madden in 2019. The pair recently announced the arrival of their second child, a son, called Cardinal Madden.

In an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow for her Goop lifestyle website, Cameron noted that a benefit of stepping away from Hollywood is that she doesn’t have to wear cosmetics all of the time and her skin is all the better for it.

“Doing a little reset kind of brings you back. It helps you be more present in the moment, staying aware of what you’re saying and what you’re doing,” she stated.

“I’ve been wearing make-up every day for most of my life, because of work, and it was really depleting to my skin. I always had a breakout. And since I stopped wearing a lot of it, in my 40s – obviously I’m older, too, but I was getting breakouts well into my 40s – I like my skin much better.”

Cameron went on to praise the GOOPGLOW Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator and a retinol product from Versed Skincare for transforming her complexion.

“I’m so into the GOOPGLOW. I just love the Microderm scrub – it feels so good and really makes a difference in my skin. I have a face oil, and a retinol from Versed, and that’s about it,” the 49-year-old continued.

“When I get up in the morning, I run my skin under the water in the shower – I don’t even use a cleanser in the mornings.”

Diaz told CBS News in 2022 she took a “pause” from acting to focus on other projects, but mainly to enjoy being a mother to her then 2-year-old daughter.

She admitted motherhood “has definitely” changed her and she loves watching her daughter experience something new for the first time, that she experienced when she was younger.

“All mothers have that moment where you’re watching your child and they’re doing something the first time and you’re like, ‘I remember doing that!’ It’s really cool,” Diaz said.
