Cannes Film Festival is known as a glamorous opportunity to turn heads, and we love a businesswoman who knows how to make a statement.
Caroline Scheufele, artistic director and co-president of Chopard jewellery chose to combine her areas of expertise while attending the closing ceremony of this year’s event.
The 64-year-old creative has led the stylistic direction of the lauded Swiss fine jewellery house for many years, but once dreamed of being a prima ballerina.
Instead of pursuing dance, she studied design and joined the family business her father Karl had acquired back in 1963.
Along with creating some of the house’s most iconic designs, Scheufele was responsible for redesigning the prestigious Palme d’Or in 1998, the gold and crystal palm-shaped trophy now hand-crafted each year in Chopard’s Geneva workshops.
Chopard now has a long-standing relationship with the Cannes event as a key sponsor and this year presented its latest high jewellery collection at the event, as well as providing jewellery for guests such as Demi Moore.
So it was a work event where Scheufele tied on her pointe shoes once more, pairing them with a beaded navy dress from her own fashion line, Caroline’s Couture. The fashion collection is an haute couture off-shoot of Chopard’s jewellery focus.
The businesswoman gracefully posed en pointe for photos, showing off her strength and talent for the art of dance as well as her flair for design, wearing a number of Chopard pieces as part of her ensemble.
More of this playful individuality on red carpets please!
