As the UK begins preparations for the Queen’s 90th Birthday extravaganza, Buckingham Palace has released never-before-seen footage of a young Elizabeth.
While none of the photos are dated, they appear to depict a young Princess, prior to her coronation in 1952.
The release is part of the day-long celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday and is also a reminder of her historic reign – spanning over 60 years.
The celebrations will see a parade of 900 horses and 1500 performers, including British greats such as Helen Mirren, Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter – who will be part of a recreation celebrating the Queen’s teenage years.
The first image (pictured above) is the only colour photo of the three and depicts Elizabeth smiling to camera, sitting alongside her father, King George VI and sister Princess Margaret. The family hugs their beloved corgis.
The second photo depicts a young Queen readying herself to dive into the family pool, alongside her father.
The third, and final image, depicts a curious Elizabeth, who can been seen looking at a bird resting on her arm.
