Fashion is slowly but surely diversifying, proving that whilst waif-like super models are still heralded as goddesses, there is room for a greater representation of the world at large.
One such example was the unexpected special guest in Marc Jacobs’ NYFW Spring 2016 collection, shown last night.
No stranger to the runway, having walked for Jean Paul Gaultier in 2010, Singer Beth Ditto graced Jacobs’ red carpet.
Beth, featured in the middle of the show, was dressed in a floor length satin gown with silver embellishments and a killer thigh-high split. Hugging her curves in all the right places, the Grecian/Punk Rock inspired ensemble was finished off with a statement white feather boa bringing back hollywood glamour to the Ziegfeld Theatre – a favourite for film premiers.
The catwalk also saw the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski.
From the historic location to the debut of the merging of his two lines – Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs, the Spring collection was a night of firsts, but Ditto, a designer in her own right, definitely made the collection one to remember.
