Beauty top-up: The best new products landing this month

In the market for a new lipstick? A boost for your current skincare routine? Or just looking for a little beauty pick-me-up?

There’s plenty of useful and impressive new beauty arrivals landing on counters right now.

With the northern hemisphere’s summer in full swing, we also benefit from the arrival products intended for that market. While they’re not as applicable to us right now, given the lingering rainclouds and cold temperatures, they are perfect to pick up if you’re planning  a trip abroad. That or just to get acquainted with for when spring rolls around.

In particular? New cream bronzers and light and exotic perfumes seem to abound.

Smoothing and hydrating body products are another hot category right now.

Emma Lewisham Supernatural Sleeping Mask

For the low-effort fans out there, this new arrival is easy-as-pie to use. Designed as a nourishing, repairing face mask, you simply apply a generous layer and go to sleep. The thick cream absorbs fairly quickly so there’s no sticky goop to rub off on your pillow and skin feels plump and hydrated when you wake. It’s not surprising given amongst the 22 hard working active ingredients it contains two different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid and a new bio-active hydration hero, Saccharide Isomerate, that penetrates deeper still. Use it 2-3 times a week on cleansed, exfoliated skin.

Rose Inc Satin Lip Color Rich Refillable Lipstick

A creamy texture and rich colour in a range of natural ‘lip colour’ shades, these are the perfect every day lipstick solution. They are comfortable to wear and pleasingly smooth out, or at least play down, vertical lip lines with respectable skincare ingredients.  The squared-off tip makes it easy to get a nice shape to the the top of your cupid’s bow too.

CurrentBody LED Lip Perfector

LED light masks are popular for treating skin, and home-use versions are easy to use while relaxing. The pain-free treatment uses specific light wavelengths, thought to stimulate collagen production naturally and improve pigmentation and fine lines. The standard masks are great but for a more targeted option that tackles the fine lines specifically around your lips, CurrentBody has released a new Lip Perfector device.  Featuring 56 LED lights and 4 different wavelengths, treatments only take 3 minutes per session.

Oribe Eau De parfum

One of the things most beloved about Oribe’s luxury haircare and styling products since the line was created in 2008 is its scent. Lingering on locks long after cleansing and styling it was exactly the intention of its creators, developing the famous scent, known as Côte d’Azur, as a fine fragrance for hair. It was developed into a stand-alone eau de parfum for in 2014 and now, two new fragrances, Valley of Flowers and Desertland, $200 each, round out the brand’s perfume offering. “Each fragrance was created to be unique on its own,” explains Adriana Medina, Vice President Perfumer for Givaudan. “Côte d’Azur embodies glamour – it is clean but also warm and musky. For Desertland, Texas cedarwood captures the elegant scent of the desert at night. The heart of Valley of Flowers is Bulgarian rose, which is harvested in the morning in the months of May and June and quickly pressed to preserve its dewy, modern freshness.”

Fenty Skin Cocoa Cleans’r Soothing All-Over Cleansing Bar and Fat Water Hydrating Milky Toner Essence

Star-power aside, Rihanna’s skincare line Fenty skin has become known for making really great products that become mainstays of your routine. Two new arrivals are worth consideration. Cocoa Cleans’r Soothing All-Over Cleansing Bar takes the concept of old-school soap and combines it with modern, hydrating ingredients for a must-have shower addition. With coconut and baobab oils, shea butter, cocoa powder, vitamin E and plantain extract it’s gentle enough to be used on your body and your face. Fat Water Hydrating Milky Toner Essence with Hyaluronic Acid + Tamarind builds on the success of previous Fat Water toner. In the brand’s words: “A Fat Water for when skin is extra thirsty—it instantly hydrates, nourishes, refreshes, soothes and helps skin recover from stress.” This new version offers even more hydration than the original and is good for dry skin types, while oily-normal skin types are well served by the original.

kit: Body Nutrition Lotion

This month sees the return of Kit, an indie-styled brand owned by Mecca that has been reimagined as a plant-powered range of simple and straightforward skincare essentials. It you prioritise clean, plant-based products and love a slightly herbaceous scent you’ll like the new range, which is packed full of modern ingredients. Our pick is this Body Nutrition Lotion which comes in a weighty metal tube and delivers a nourishing cream that sinks in quickly, making it perfect for dry hands and flaky spots on elbows, knees and ankles.

Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzer

A cream-to-powder bronzer with the most beautiful natural finish that melts into skin for a believable glow. With four shades to suit varying skin tones, the formula contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and blends beautifully with a dense brush so you don’t get that obvious stripy look.

La Prairie Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm

By now you’ll likely know La Prairie as the pinnacle of luxury skincare, but it’s possible a new release might have pushed the bar for the brand even higher. A new extension of the brands recent Pure Gold collection, divine Pure Gold Radiance Nocturnal Balm is a rich, decadent and nourishing night cream intended to supercharge skin’s natural regeneration overnight as we sleep.

For this silky balm the use of real gold amongst other beneficial ingredients is intended to give an immediate gentle visible radiance on the surface of the skin, and as a delivery system to help the energy-rich formula penetrate deep into the skin and release over time to help with healthy skin cell turnover and renewal. The results? Glowy, strong and healthy skin. The refillable vessel also conceals a marble sculpting tool to help massage the balm into skin as well as stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Sisley Paris Phyto-Ombre Éclat Liquide

Eyeshadow continues to get easier to apply, at least when it comes to Sisley Paris’ new Phyto-Ombre Éclat Liquide. A shimmery new liquid eye shadow that swipes on with the included wand and blends easily with fingers. The six beautiful pearlised shades catch the light and last well on lids and you can even layer them for a multi-tonal effect.

Ole Henriksen Barrier Booster Orange Ferment Essence

Adding an extra step to a routine can be a big call, but Ole Henriksen’s Barrier Booster Orange Ferment Essence is said to make a big difference to the hydration and tone of your skin. A new addition to the brand’s Truth collection, which is a range of Serum, Moisturiser eye cream and more focussed on brightening and firming skin with the help of Vitamin C, the essence hits all the marks of trending skincare, helping restore the protective barrier of your skin and dose it with moisture when applied after cleanser and toner, and before serum and moisturiser.
