Hailey Bieber shows off new Rhode products before her son's birth, Tower 28 has launched at MECCA and Angelina Jolie is the new face of Tom Ford Beauty.
From a surprising nail trend to the arrival of a luxe natural deodorant, here's what's making news in the world of beauty.

Meet the maternity mani

Now that she is a mother, Hailey Bieber is showing no signs of waning in her role as a global nail influencer.

The founder of Rhode beauty is the responsible for setting nail trends like ‘glazed doughnut’ nails. With husband Justin Bieber’s recent Instagram post (below) announcing the birth of the couple’s son Jack Blues Bieber, the new mum revealed a long and elegantly polished, French-tipped nail that has been referred to by some as the ‘maternity mani.’

Because every detail is a promo opportunity, Hailey’s go-to manicurist, Zola Ganzorigt revealed the design was curiously, actually chosen by Justin: “Justin has been choosing Hailey’s nail design lately, and it was his request.”

Like many people get their nails done before an imminent wedding proposal, Bieber is one of no-doubt many, that want to feel prepared in all manner of ways – mani included – for their new child’s arrival.

Dyson loves mushrooms

It’s hard to believe, given its reputation for expertise with airflow technology, but Dyson has just created its first haircare line. There are no powered parts but the global giant did use a lot of science and technology formulation to pinpoint the perfect ingredients for lush hair.

Turns out, its plenty thanks to mushrooms. Or a specific extract of oyster mushrooms to be exact. Known as Chitosan, it’s a clever little ingredient that helps your hair hold its style all day while feeling soft and flexible, rather that stiff or sticky.

There’s a Pre-Style Cream to add nourishment, reduce frizz and protect your locks while the Post-Style Serum shields your blowout or style against the effects of humidity and adds a touches of natural shine.

Get your hands on Tower 28

Do you get skincare fomo? With global shipping there are few brands that are still out of reach Down Under, but sometimes it would be nice to get our hands on hyped beauty brands from the US a little bit easier.

MECCA is certainly working hard on that front, with the recent arrival of Glossier in its stores. Now, it’s landed cult California-cool US beauty brand Tower 28.

Known for its skincare/makeup crossover (it has bestsellers in each category) and a focus on fresh, uncontrived and easy-to-use products, we’re picking this is the perfect line up to refresh your routine for spring and summer.

Founder Amy Liu, who has struggled with temperamental skin her entire adult life, so she’s got a focus on making products that work, even when skin is acting up! One of the most famous products is the SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray. A spritz-on toner, it soothes and helps calm your skin, support the skin barrier, and keep flare-ups at bay.

We’ve also got our eyes on the lush-looking cream blushes and bronzers.

Smoothing bodycare just in time for summer

From one brand branching out, to another. The Ordinary has also stepped into a new category with its new launch.

It has launched three skincare products for the body: A salicylic acid body serum, a niacinamide emulsion and a Inulin body lotion.

The company apparently had the idea thanks to customer’s demands for a larger size of its beloved niacinamide serum for use other than the face, helped along by the growth in interest in bodycare products with active ingredients.

The Salicylic Acid 0.5% Body Serum targets body blemishes. Its smoothing effect will likely be great for keratosis pilaris and ‘strawberry legs’ too.  Niacinamide 5% Face and Body Emulsion aims to help even the appearance of skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots and Natural Moisturizing Factors + Inulin Body Lotion is a lightweight, non greasy moisturiser.

New beauty roles

Recognisable ambassadors are still incredibly important to beauty brands as they create campaigns to build recognition for new releases.

Angelina Jolie has just been revealed as the new face of Tom Ford Beauty, the first-ever celebrity face of the brand.

Jolie, who has also worked with Guerlain as an ambassador, fronts the luxury brand’s new Runway Lip Color lipstick range.

Gigi Hadid has also just been revealed as the face of Rabanne’s new fragrance release.

Hadid is showcasing the new Million Gold For Her EDP, a ‘grand floral’ that highlights feminine white flowers, contrasted with a salty mineral musk accord.

The fragrance is a new offshoot of the brand’s hugely successful men’s cologne 1 Million, introduced in 2008. The brand has also just released a new version of the men’s scent, Million Gold Eau de Parfum Intense scent for men, to partner the new arrival.

Relatably, Hadid told WWD she had an indelible memory of the original scent.

“I dated someone as a teenager who wore that,” she recalled. “That bottle is such a vivid memory. I always loved the graphicness and the concept of that gold bar.”

Finally, a luxe natural deodorant

If you’re after a natural deodorant but want something more elegant than a raw crystal, or a hand-pressed paste of shea butter and baking soda, we might have something up your alley.

Natural luxury skincare brand Tronque has created a roll-on deodorant made of sugarcane enzymes, pomegranate oil, coconut oil and other natural actives in a gentle-to-skin formula. It also contains what the brand calls a ‘deo-tox’  ingredient that inhibits acetylcholine (muscle neurotransmitter) release, reducing nerve signals controlling sweat gland activity.

What’s more, the Kiwi brand’s new arrival is refillable and has a lovely fresh and clean scent.
