Beauty launches seem to come in ebs and flows, but there have been plenty of new arrivals landing on my desk in recent weeks.
While skincare and makeup items are a given, there has been an influx of new perfumes and beautifully-scented, hard working body products too.
My favourite categories right now, blush, and lip gloss that feels like balm, also recieved some worthy new arrivals to give the makeup bag a bit of a freshen-up in the dead of winter.
Here’s what I’ve loved from new beauty arrivals:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Touch Blush Trio
I found this blush trio quite daunting to look at, but when I stippled on a touch of one of the colours to my cheek with an Hourglass Blush Brush I was impressed with the way the pigment melted into skin. It gives an intense colour but if you dab on the back of your hand first you get more control. You can also use each colour alone or layer two or three colours for a unique shape and tone.
Medik8 C-Tetra Advanced Serum
Medik8 is one of those skincare companies always developing ingredients and formulas, including bettering some of its best-sellers. This new Medik8 C-Tetra Advanced is a potent 20% vitamin C gel serum with phyto-exosomes to brighten skin and protect against premature aging, but it’s also gentle and kind to that all-important protective barrier.
MECCA MAX Milk It Soothing Moisture Mist
Another one to try if you have sensitivity flare ups, your skin is feeling parched from the winter weather, or you just need an easy way to give skin more moisture (yes to all of the above!), even on-the-go. This has a really fine mist which I love as it sinks it quickly and feels cooling. It has Cica (Centella Asiatica) a popular ingredient in K Beauty for soothing and calming skin.
Stila Pocket Play Eye Shadow in Pretty Petal
I have used this mini eyeshadow palette a lot more than I thought I would. It has pretty, easy-to-use shades and was great to pack for a weekend away given its size and variety of finishes included.
Lancôme Absolue Longevity The Soft Cream
I went to a launch recently for this product, and learned about its advanced ingredient science which includes PDRN sourced from roses (rather than salmon sperm that’s been grabbing all the attention lately). It’s a silky moisturiser intended to help smooth and firm skin and while I absolutely did not want to fall in love with it given its price tag, after using it for a few weeks I’m seriously impressed. It sinks in beautifully and leaves dry skin glowy, plump and revived.
Jane Iredale Skintuition SPF 30 Radiance-Boosting Liquid Foundation
If you’re looking for a reliable, all-rounder foundation, I’ve been loving wearing Jane Iredale’s new Skintuition SPF 30 Radiance-Boosting Liquid Foundation. It’s a medium, buildable liquid foundation with physical SPF 30 sun protection and gives a healthy, skin-like finish. It has plenty of hyaluronic acid so skin doesn’t look dry, and doesn’t settle into lines or highlight texture. I’ve found it seamless for covering redness and pigmentation and a little goes a long way when buffed on with a dense-bristle foundation brush .
Byoma Milky Moisture Cleanser
If you’re seeing a pattern, you’ll understand that I have skin that can be prone to redness and sensitivity and needs lots of hydration. If that’s you too, or you just just like a creamy, gentle cleanser, definitely try out the brand Byoma at Sephora. Newly arrived to our shores, the affordable UK-based skincare brand focuses on repairing and maintaining the skin’s barrier with ceramides and fatty acids.
L’Oréal Paris Plump Ambition Hyaluron Lip Oil
My favourite way to wear lip colour right now it to apply a lip pencil, filling in lips almost completely save for a small area in the centre of the lips for a slightly contoured effect. Then I top of with a modern lip gloss in a nude or pink shade. I’ve been enjoying the colour range of this product, though beware, the plumping aspect makes lips feel seriously spicy.
Ellis Brooklyn Marshmallows Hair And Body Fragrance Mist
It’s not the most elegant scent but for a comforting and sweet bit of fun, this body mist is delicious. There is an entire new wave of scent mists landing right now, and they smell great on skin as well as on clothes and in your hair. Vanilla and caramel notes are also incredibly popular right now.
Aleph Lift / Lengthen Mascara
Kiwi beauty brand Aleph also has a newbie that supports lash growth. The 100% microplastic- and silicone-free mascara uses organic mung bean and clover sprout extracts the brand says has been shown to visibly boost length and density in just 28 days.The refillable glass tube can even be returned to the brand to be cleansed and reused, reducing waste.
Jo Malone London Raspberry Ripple Cologne
Once, the era of sophisticated white floral perfumes reigned. Right now though, it’s all about sweet and fruity gourmands, with plenty of berry and cherry notes. The evidence is in Jo Malone’s latest launch. The London-based brand is known for its heady florals but new Raspberry Ripple Cologne captures raspberry ice cream instead, with lush raspberries and redcurrants swirling through white musk.
