Established in 1986, Bear Park is a place of wonder for children, a special place where they are able to engage in endless opportunities and to be just that, and a child; where curiosity, excitement and wonder, and spontaneous imagination are nurtured. Bear Park is a place of laughter and joy, of friends and memories, for both children and whanau.
Bear Park is also leading in innovation, their new wellness programme for teachers a great example of this. The programme is voluntary; teachers can sign up for it free of charge. The sessions are hosted and planned by Suzi’ Nevell and Emma Brake and cover a wide range of topics, including combating stress, nutrition and movement and fitness and strength.
Both Suzi’ and Emma have been trained extensively at the Chek Institute in San Diego, which was founded by Paul Chek. Paul’s methods are holistic, viewing the body as a system of systems – a fully integrated unit where physical, hormonal, mental, emotional and spiritual components must be considered.
By using these techniques in the teacher wellness initiative, Bear Park hopes to not only inform teachers but show them how to integrate the principles into their professional and personal lives.
Nurturing and educating teachers is part of looking after their people, and in turn, continuing to make the environment at Bear Park a wonderful one for all involved.
