Forget sitting in a cold, dark theatre, this summer Barefoot Cinema is setting up in three spectacular locations across the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne – offering an outdoor cinema experience that’s much more than just a movie.
After a stellar first season in Portsea last year, Barefoot Cinema is back bigger than ever, now offering three stunning locations – Point Nepean National Park in Portsea, Seawinds Gardens in Arthurs Seat and Rippon Lea Estate in Elsternwick.
During the Barefoot Cinema season guests can enjoy stunning views, food trucks, a fully licensed bar, live music and some of your favourite films under the stars.
Yuliana Acevedo Rodriguez and her partner, Julian Grant, a local peninsula boy, have been dreaming about starting Barefoot Cinema for years, and last year finally brought the idea to life at Point Nepean National Park in Portsea.
“The Commanding Officer’s House in Point Nepean National Park was our first location and it’s truly spectacular,” Yuliana said. “It’s Portsea’s best-kept secret, with not many people, even locals, having been there before.
On what to expect this year, Yuliana said they’d be showing a mix of iconic classics as well as some of the year’s latest hits. As always, there will be live music, food trucks, a candy bar, fantastic local wine from Stonier and award-winning craft beers from Gage Roads.
“New this year, we’ll now be offering themed nights like Girls Nights Out, which will be a fabulous night of rom coms, special gifts and cocktails,” she said. “There will also be a surfing night brought to you by Dragon, so you can kick back with a surfing classic while overlooking the spectacular peninsula.”
