The mystery of where Britain’s royal baby Archie was born has been solved by his birth certificate.
Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Sussex – Prince Harry and the former Meghan Markle – chose to have their son at a private hospital, baby Archie’s birth certificate has revealed.
Buckingham Palace has released Archie’s birth certificate, which shows his place of birth being Portland Hospital. He was born at 5.26am local time on May 6 weighing 3.26kg.
Meghan was reportedly a week overdue, which is believed to be what led her to have Archie in a hospital – although she had favoured a home birth.
The couple’s new baby was born in a maternity unit renowned for its quality of service, akin to a five-star hotel where parents can spend tens of thousands to ensure a safe and happy arrival for their baby.
Portland Hospital is where Victoria Beckham, Liz Hurley and Sarah Ferguson gave birth.
Meghan Markle is a princess
Duchess Meghan’s full legal name, Rachel Meghan Markle, is listed on the document, which also lists Meghan’s job as “Princess of the United Kingdom”.
While this is not a new revelation, Meghan’s title is styled as the Duchess of Sussex, she has been a princess since the moment she married Prince Harry.
Prince Harry and Meghan returned with baby Archie to Frogmore Cottage just hours after the birth.
