Australian Princess, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark pays tribute to fallen soldiers
Crown Princess Mary has honoured her heritage by unveiling the new Australian War Memorial in Copenhagen.

The 48-year-old royal participated in a wreath-laying ceremony and unveiled a plaque at Churchill Park in the Danish capital.

The war memorial was dedicated to Australian soldiers who lost their lives fighting in Denmark during the two World Wars.

The memorial reads: “This stone stands in memorial to Australian servicemen of the First and Second World Wars who are at rest in Danish soil. Their valiant sacrifice stands testament to the common devotion to freedom and democracy that our nations share.

“They shall not grow old as we are left to grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

“Lest we forget.”

Princess Mary has been known to attend engagements representing bilateral relations between Denmark and Australia.
