Today, MiNDFOOD attended the launch of the Australian Patisserie Academy (APA) at the Northern Sydney Institute in North Ryde.
The academy offers several different patisserie training programs for a range of students. The classes are lead by award-winning chefs who have travelled the world and have an in depth knowledge about the art of pastry to share with their students.
The APA is the perfect place for all levels of chefs and home cooks alike. The Academy offers a variety of courses in specialties such as chocolate making and cake design. MiNDFOOD’s Food Director Michelle McHugh and I were able to sample from a magnificent spread of croissants, brioches and other delicious sweets made by some of the teachers.
We were given the chance to learn about tempering chocolate, cake decorating, filling mini lemon meringue tarts and making homemade candy.
Though not quite yet a master at tempering chocolate, I learned a huge amount in a short space of time.
After visiting the APA, I would definitely recommend taking a course where the chefs, the campus and the range of courses offered are all very professional and hugely inspiring.
