Titled ‘The Best of It’, the show was a display of the brand’s signature aesthetic, capturing the essence of summer nostalgia, the joyous spirit of sailing clubs and the brave belief that our best days are yet to come.
The collection, a fusion of vibrant, playful and feminine silhouettes with elevated wardrobe essentials, reflects the creative vision of designer Maggie Hewitt.
With this captivating capsule, Hewitt brings her original desire to life – the creation of ‘liveable luxury’ in the distinctive Maggie Marilyn way.
Hewitt first started designing the capsule at the beginning of summer, one of New Zealand’s wettest on record.
“But despite the blueprint for disappointment, driving along coastal roads and past local beaches, you were hard-pressed to find an empty plot of land not occupied by people choosing to make the best of it,” says Hewitt.
“That summer reminded me of a childhood largely spent on, in, and near the ocean – even on its worst days.
“Dipping in and out of the Bay of Islands’ local sailing clubs with my three sisters. Places so steeped in nostalgia that within them time stands still, and frequented by those who understand what it means to do what they love, even when it doesn’t feel easy.
“Sailors possess an optimism borne not from naivety but instead the quiet knowing that if they just stay the course, good days are coming.”
The first release of this capsule collection is scheduled to launch on June 14th. The collection will be available for purchase both online at www.maggiemarilyn.com and at Maggie Marilyn’s homes in Auckland, New Zealand, and Sydney, Australia.
