Australian Brandenburg Orchestra unites with Circa and soprano Claire Lefilliâtre for a dramatic, sensual, thrilling event

A stage bathed in moonlight. The sumptuous sounds of the French baroque, Circus theatrical arts and a glamorous French soprano singing of love, longing and loss.

The Australian Brandenberg Orchesta’s talent for merging artists from seemingly different genres to magnificent effect, continues with their exciting new production, FRENCH BAROQUE
with CIRCA – a journey through heaven and earth, lit by romance and glamour.

WHAT: Although you might not initially associate baroque music with the circus, Artistic Director, Paul Dyer AO says it’s not such a stretch. “The Baroque period was rich in invention,’ he said, “and the circus was invented in that time.”

Dyer always aims to offer a different menu for audiences, so it’s no surprise that he gravitated towards esteemed French soprano Claire Lefilliâtre to join the Orchestra and Brisbane’s acclaimed Circa Contemporary Circus for this sumptuous production.

In French Baroque, music by French Masters including Rameau, Lully and Marais will be performed, on period instruments from the era. In unison with the exquisite music will be Circa’s theatrical, aerial, gymnastic artistry, created by contemporary circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz.

Claire Lefilliâtre will take to the magical stage, transformed into a pasticcio reflecting the moods of different characters and feelings. Dyer says, “it’s a theatre show reflecting magic, with musicians intermingling – theatre and movement!”
