The 322-room Radisson RED Auckland has just opened on Lorne Street, a stone’s throw from Queen Street and just across a courtyard from the Auckland Art Gallery.
The mid-town location is bustling with cafes and additional smaller galleries and is a couple of minutes’ walk from the Civic Theatre, which feels like a good fit for the new hotel that has an artsy, theatrical feel.
Along with colourful interior accents, many details have been chosen to highlight the new accommodation’s vicinity to central Auckland entertainment. This includes contemporary installations, corridor lighting that mimics stage spotlights and lounge seating inspired by opera boxes. The high-glam theme continues in each guest room with layered textures, curated artwork and sensory lighting.

For those looking for a city location that will accommodate a beloved furry friend, the new spot will be sought-after. One of the few pet-friendly hotel’s in the city, Radisson RED will allow guests to bring their four-legged companions along for the stay.

Outside of providing accommodation for out-of-town visitors the new development delivers a new social destination for locals, with what promises to be ‘Australasia’s largest outdoor rooftop space,’ according to developers.
Set to open shortly, the rooftop restaurant, bar and event venue will offer sweeping views across the skyline and Sky Tower. The venue space will have the ability to evolve in size depending on the occasion, from corporate events to cocktail functions.

Reinout Engel, Radisson RED Auckland’s General Manager, says the hotel celebrates creativity, connection, and a new way to experience hospitality.
“Every space has been shaped to spark inspiration, encourage connection, and bring a sense of play back into travel,” says Engel. “We’re proud to open our doors and introduce a fresh, dynamic experience to Auckland, one that reflects the spirit of the city and the attitude of RED.”
Radisson RED Auckland is open now at 33 Lorne St.
