Fashion lovers are dancing in the streets of Tāmaki Makaurau.
That’s a slight exaggeration but it also could have been us after visiting the just-opened department store Faradays. The luxe three-level store is giving the city’s shopping options a serious boost and as someone who still loves an in-person browse, there was plenty to enjoy.
But the best part is, that store is just one of the new arrivals extending our options in the city and Newmarket. From local fashion labels to iconic jewellery giants, the openings are helping reinvigorate the scene, along with the launch of the City Rail Link and hospitality moves like the new Cassia.
Here are some of the recent arrivals to know:
Faradays

Auckland’s newest department store is now open, and there’s a lot to take in. We recommend allowing enough time for a good look around, as the beauty floor alone has so much to discover, sniff and swatch. Then there’s menswear, womenswear, designer bags and shoes, the most darling childrenswear section… we could go on. Read more about what’s in store here, and consider booking for lunch at Lottie’s when it opens reservations on October 14.
Cartier

The exterior of Cartier’s new Auckland boutique is a sight to behold, a beautiful combination of Auckland heritage (the building was built in 1883) and the French charm of its new inhabitant. Of course that’s nothing on the delights inside. Try on globally-significant watches like Cartier’s Tank or Santos De Cartier or famous designs like the Love bracelets that fasten with a tiny screwdriver.
Marle

For the local fashion scene its exciting to see Marle open its first store after developing a strong presence through online retail and a network of dedicated stockists. In line with the brand’s quietly considered style, the new Newmarket store is beautifully appointed and includes the full clothing line and the new menswear collection.
Zoe & Morgan

The New Zealand jewellery brand also has a stunning new location in Newmarket, adding to its City Works Depot store and a London presence in Notting Hill. Spectacular wooden cabinetry displays the label’s sentimental, delicate and detailed designs.
Dermalogica

Not fashion but still well worth a visit, One of our results-driven skincare faves Dermalogica has opened a pop-up retail boutique in Commercial Bay shopping centre. Open until Christmas, it has the full skincare range and you can also access select skin-boosting treatments. All under 30mins, they’re the perfect express option for an effective skin boost during your lunch hour.
Oroton

If you’ve shopped in Australia, you’ll be well familiar with the sleek, elevated womenswear and accessories from Oroton. A new boutique recently opened in Commercial Bay, the label’s first expansion outside of Australia. We’re loving the fresh colour combinations and streamlined day bags and evening clutches for spring and summer. They’re beautifully made with a refined look that wont quickly date.
